Research Interests

My research works have so far covered cross-cutting issues combining Biogeography, Conservation, Ethno-ecology and Ethnobotany of Wild Edible Plants, especially those playing key roles in rural Africa. Currently I am working on using available species distribution modeling tools to assess how climate change could affect distribution range of different ecotypes of these plants (i.e., Adansonia digitata, Parkia biglobosa, Pentadesma butyracea, Tamarindus indica, Vitellaria paradoxa). In the long run I am also interested in influence of ecological conditions on the demographic response of their populations to harvesting pressures. In the same line I am willing to contribute to develop realistic in situ, on farm and ex situ conservation and use plans. Although not a molecular biologist my interest also includes using phylogeographic analysis to contribute to a better understanding of the origination of T. indica and to check for possible sub-speciation within this climatically widespread species.
